COMMUNITY PROJECTS

We don't want to just write checks. We also want to invest sweat equity in our community projects. This is the true nature of the Rotary motto of Service Above Self.

Examples of RAW's Service Above Self in Fort Collins are:

EDUCATION & LITERACY

  • Remediating Reading with Kindle. This experimental program is aimed at rapidly bringing reading proficiency for all middle school students to grade level.
  • Little Libraries. We collect and distribute books for children and youth to all our little libraries around Fort Collins .
  • The Ron Baker College Scholarship pays tuition and/or living expenses for single-parent students at a local community college. We select deserving students with the help of Project Self-Sufficiency.

YOUTH PROGRAMS

  • We provide scholarships to Rocky Mountain RYLA camps in Colorado.
  • Duffel bags for Foster Kids. These kids have few belongings but no way to carry them when they move between homes every few weeks.
  • Counselors at Youth Leadership camps
  • Building raised beds for a vegetable garden at Teaching Tree Early Childhood Learning Center and providing playground maintenance.
  • Playground maintenance and other services at La Familia.
  • Grants for Vocational Education. We support high school shop classes in constructing various products from little libraries to 'flat-pack' houses.
